Re: window-pro digest: April 29, 2009 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Vision IWCE 09 Atlanta From: DianGar@aol.com Date: Wed, 29 Apr 2009 11:58:15 EDT X-Message-Number: 1 Hi Rory, WindowPro's daughter, DraperyPro will be at the show in booth #1318...look for the rainbow silks! DraperyPro is the ORIGINAL online networking forum for soft treatment professionals and would love for you to join our group. Membership is fee based (only $49 per year, the cost of 1.5 tanks of gas these days) but you'll get far more mileage for your investment. DraperyPro members have been sharing information in a respectful, professional manner since 1996 and we're still going strong. Our members have teamed up with Window Fashions during the IWCE since 1997 to bring you Dream Windows in the past, and now the Vignettes. Every participant has volunteered their time and talent. Just a little personal story about doing a Dream Window back in 1997, a local designer saw my work, connected with me and we're STILL working together to this day. That translated into thousands of dollars and happy clients. If you just get involved, you never know what doors will open for you. I always ask myself when I make decisions (even just to buy a book) "What is the potential return on investment this will offer?" DraperyPro members have often mentioned (unsolicited) that they appreciate DraperyPro, a place where they can connect with a new vendor, hear about a product, learn how to fabricate, deal with a particular client, ask business questions, etc. We all have questions from time to time. We're here to for you to chime in and add to the conversation. Even if you don't actively join in on the conversation, that's ok, too--DraperyPro is your forum to learn from. DraperyPro was a soft treatment spin off from WindowPro, and Rory is the original pioneer--our forum was in the same wagon train, blazing a trail on the Internet. None of us really knew how this new-fangled "web thing" would pan out in business, but it's here to stay. I'm sure glad I read that blurb in D&WC magazine way back in 1994 announcing Rory's idea, WindowPro. While the Internet has evolved in so many ways, one thing is for sure, connections are your best bet, and we'd love to have you join our group. Find out more about DraperyPro by visiting _www.DraperyPro.com_ (http://www.DraperyPro.com) . Heck if you're ready to join, you can get started right away. Please stop by the DraperyPro booth #1318. Specials will offered, and if you join now, there's an extra special offer in store for you if you attend the show. I should be in the booth most of the time. Please introduce yourself and to find out if DraperyPro is right for you! Thanks, Rory. If not for you..... Date: Wed, 29 Apr 2009 15:32:33 -0400 X-Message-Number: 3 Rory, Will you be exhibiting this year? I have attended the last five shows, and I do not remember seeing you exhibit. I would love to see your roman shade system described on your website. Ed Hopkins Exciting Windows! by Verticals Etc 122 Lafayette Rd North Hampton, NH 03862 Showroom 603-964-7282 www.excitingwindows.net Director, WCAA _____________________________________________________________________ From Rory; Hi Ed, thanks for the free plug for our RomaSheer product www.romasheer.com I must confess I haven't exhibited on the show floor now for maybe 9 years. I used to take a suite at a local hotel but haven't done that either for about 5 years. My problem with the show was that if we showed some of the newer products we were working on publicly it would be more difficult to prevent others from copying our ideas. We have licensed our double layer roman shade hardware to Vertilux and they will be exhibiting this cool product on their booth. Stop by their booth and ask about their new Gemini Shade and let me know what you think. Date: Wed, 29 Apr 2009 17:20:47 -0400 X-Message-Number: 4 Rory, Thanks for the opportunity to use Window-Pro Digest as a PR forum for IWCE. Draper, Inc. will be at IWCE in booth 1504. Special emphasis this year will be on our new coupler system for motorized and crank operated FlexShades. Our new system has many features that our dealers and their installers should relay appreciate. *retractable pins for easy installation *fabric height adjustment *friction free coupler brackets *virtually unlimited number of panels can be coupled *brackets, fascia and headbox available We will be showing an eight panel motorized unit, the entire width of the booth plus a dual coupled unit with fascia. This is a product that will make installation much easier and more profitable for our customers. Date: Wed, 29 Apr 2009 18:54:33 -0500 X-Message-Number: 5 Anyone know why HD quit making a curved vertical headrail. Was told they had to many challenges and a long lead time. who can do a good job on these. Thanks Charlieo _________________________________________________________________________ From Rory; Hi Charlieo, the curved HD headrail is/was the Decomatic rail from Suntecausa.com Sunteca have the best vertical headrail in the market. I should know, we make it for our Illumasheer Sheer Verticals. Sunteca's Decomatic Track can do 3ft diameter radius curves, arches, incline/sloping tracks, descending spirals (I'd like to see that installation!) and all these can be motorized with a full tilt and traverse motorized system for both IR and RF, compatible with all other blind/shade automation systems. Another cool feature is "off center stacking" where you have a different number of carriers on one side vs the other. One of my favorite features that's tough to find on any vertical system is LHS and RHS controls. Yeah I know, all vertical systems are symmetrical so you can flip the track around to achieve LHS or RHS controls but the tension pulley should always be closest to the wall so it doesn't interfere with the tilt chain controls. Date: Thu, 30 Apr 2009 08:38:18 -0400 X-Message-Number: 8 Hello, It is fantastic to see the enthusiasm of those exhibiting at IWCE. The attendees this year will be more eager than every to learn about how they can improve their businesses. Those of us exhibiting should be ready to answer the question "What can your products or services do for me"? I will be teaching two seminars at this show. Please know that if you are an exhibitor and you have not made any connect ions with speakers delivering classes. it may not be too late. I certainly have made an effort to include vendors products in my classes and will reference their booth numbers so attendees can follow-up to learn more. Having a working relationship with prominent industry speakers is a great way for customers and future customers to see your products being used in creative and/or practical ways. I would like to take this opportunity to promote the following companies to which I have an association. 1. CHF Academy - Booth 936 Come by to learn more about classes and other educational opportunities available at CHFA. 2. Workroom Construction Zone - Hands on demonstrations and featured products from many exhibitors. An opportunity for attendees to see workroom tools and supplies being used and network with their peers. There will be a beautiful style showcase created by instructors from the CHF Academy. 3. Rowley Company - Booth 1029 Please stop by and see the new Finestra decorative hardware collection as well as more familiar Rowley products from installation tools and supplies, workroom products and more such as duvets and pillow forms. The booth design is new and fresh and many old friends will be present. I am scheduled to be representing Rowley Friday afternoon in their booth but will also be there at other times as well. 4. Hanes Fabrics - 1437 Featured will be the popular line of drapery linings from Hanes fabrics. The sales team is there to educate the attendees on the value of quality lining materials with hands-on samples and advice showing how these materials are being used in creative ways by designers and workrooms. I am always happy to answer lining questions, I am very enthusiastic about this subject! Thank you Rory for the opportunity to promote ourselves here on Window Pro. I am looking forward to the WCAA dinner Friday night which is always a wonderful time to make fact to face connections is a relaxed atmosphere. I hope to see you there.
