Some with contracts even more without contracts. Now I know that there are contracts with a lot more verbiage, but this is the essence of what all the words get down to. Basically with or without this is the basic agreement.. 1) Both parties agree that they will give one another 30 days notice in breaking the contract. 2) Commissions will be paid on all orders received thru the end of the 30 day notice. So all orders that either the company or you receive thru the last day of employment will be paid commission - no matter when they are shipped. 3) Rate of commission must be spelled out. 4) Starting date needs to be spelled out. Other items in contracts maybe..Non compete while representing company.Non complete after representation - usually a period of time is spelled out. Company's knowledge of other companies you represent & sometimes their okay for representing those companies is required. The laws change from state to state, you need to review what the laws are in the state the agreement is signed. There was a famous settlement re a New York rep and a California company where the representative was fired after they succured a large order from JCP. The company ended up paying commission on the initial order and commission on all re-orders of the product. Obviously it's better to work with a contract (which the NY rep had) than not. Most of these contracts are one sided so you must get legal advise to protect your interests. It'll cost you, but you'll benefit if and when you leave. Hope this helps..!Good luck with your future representation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: DECOMATIC & THANKS! From: "Darryl Delost"

Date: Thu, 7 May 2009 14:29:48 -0700 X-Message-Number: 3 Hi Pros, Unfortunately I cannot attend Atlanta, which marks the second time I have missed the annual show since 1990. I would like to try a Twitter reporting experiment from the show floor, for any of you enterprising Twitterers who are equipped with a new fangled camera phone and a Twitter app. If you are so equipped and so inclined you would use the phone's Twitter application to take pictures of any things you see that are interesting. Then you would write a few words and hit send. The news item would then appear on your Twitter page together with a link to the picture. I would be following your Tweets already and any new posts would alert my phone via text message. I would then Re-tweet your posting so you get the credit and the posting would appear on my public Twitter page. At the moment I only have about 140 following me but hopefully we can increase this number exponentially over the coming week. The cool part is that all the volunteer reporters' retweets would be in one place where anyone, anywhere in the world can see all the cool things at the show. I would imagine this would be great publicity for IWCE and might generate a lot of interest in the show. If you are up for this little social experiment please let me know and send me your twitter address. It's easy to set up if you don't have one already www.twitter.com I'll also post all the intrepid reporters' Twitter names or aliases here so others can follow them directly too. It's also a very good idea to try to secure your twitter name and business/brand names ASAP before someone like your competitor does. Twitter names are going to be as important as domains very soon. Here is a great NYTimes article to help people see how to get the most out of Twitter. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/07/technology/personaltech/07basics.html?_r=1 Best Regards, Rory McNeil http://www.linkedin.com/in/rorymcneil www.twitter.com/rorymcneil www.window-pro.org TechStyles Window Covering Products Inc. 300 N.
