Re: 4.5" Verticals ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Subject: Skylight Shades Bidding Opportunity From: "Joe Larsen"
Date: Fri, 12 Jun 2009 07:35:15 -0500 X-Message-Number: 1 Rory, Real difficult to address what your customer is wanting (price/quality/service) if you are caught in the middle and questions need to be funneled to your customer. You know that product quality and installation superiority will dictate the bid. Given the fact that installation isn't required, maybe one would have to be in touch with the person installing this stuff in order to get particulars regarding the mounting system, etc. Also, if motorization is required, what background does the installer have and will he assume liability if he damages the motor upon installation? Does your customer need individual shades or two longer shades? Two longer shades require heavier motors while individual shades require many motors. Wireless remote or wired? Multi-location? Yadayadayada... If it is shades as well as skylites, someone will have to determine just how the skylites will rest on the roof, and what kind of curb is to be installed (or flashing I suppose). No one likes a leaky skylite! And roofs need to be protected and best practices need to be applied in order to make certain the roof nor the skylight is compromised down the road. If heat is a problem, sometimes offering a exterior solution might be beneficial to knocking down the heat prior to the sun's rays hitting the rooftop. Do the skylites show any design pressure drop? (are they leaking?) You may want to re-think this one and have your customer release his name and number to those interested in posting a bid. Bids can take time, and while that is the cost of doing business, no one really wants to do things twice (and three times) when one time is sufficient, wouldn't you agree? Just my thoughts on this project. Maybe I'm a bit peculiar (always was). But I try to establish a relationship with the people I serve so they know who they are dealing with and areas of concern can be addressed early. Are you ready to give him up yet? Have a great rest of the day! Best, Beta _______________________________________________________________________ Dearest Joe aka Beta, Consider me the facilitator not the go between. I have no intention of running interference. Just trying to help a customer hook up with a company that can help. He preferred to stay anon I pressume so his competitors would not be tipped off for the job. This particular retailer is a specialist at all things motorized and difficult, so I'm confident he has all the answers for any interested parties.
