WINDOW-PRO Digest for Wednesday, August 05, 2009. 1. re: Hunter Douglas Dressage Horse Sponsorship 2. Re Sales Reps: 3. RE: Sales Reps 4. Wow, Free Classified Ads... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: re: Hunter Douglas Dressage Horse Sponsorship From: Window-ology
Date: Tue, 4 Aug 2009 16:17:31 -0700 (PDT) X-Message-Number: 1 Oh boy... where to begin... This is not just ANY horse... and not just any horsewoman... The horsewoman who ride this horse is IsImke Schellekens-Bartels, who took 2nd place in the Beijing Summer Olympics last year riding Hunter Douglas Sunrise. This is more info on her...I must apologize for the length of this link, but it has to run through a translation to English since the Wikipedia page on this is in Dutch. http://tinyurl.com/mft8le Ahhh.. but there's more... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5r-nB4yuiU She has ridden at least 4 different Hunter Douglas horses competitively... pretty cool if you ask me... I wonder how many in HD even know about this? I'm guessing the Sonnenbergs are really into this, and keep it to themselves mostly... one would think such a sponsorship would play nicely if they broadcast it big... maybe they figure we Americans only think Nascar is cool, lol... and reserve this to rub shoulders with uber-elite suppliers and purchasers... Now one must consider the new "Pirouette" product. One might assume this is just another "ette", but pirouette is a big part of dressage competition.... "Pirroutte" is French for the Ballet reference, "to whirl about. " (thank you Wikipedia). A pirouette is a two-track lateral movement ask ed of a horse in dressage, in which the animal makes a circle with its front end around a smaller circle made by the hind end. Specifically, the front legs and outside hind leg should travel around the inside hind leg, with the horse remaining slightly bent in the direction of travel. in all dressage, the horse should remain relaxed, engaged, and responsive, with the poll as the highest point. Ideally, the pirouette will be almost in-place, although many horses perform a slightly larger pirouette. And now you know more than you ever needed to know about any of this. .. Now go out and sell something. Alan Robinette Window-ology www.window-ology.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re Sales Reps: From: "Jim Rohrlack"
Date: Wed, 5 Aug 2009 10:11:17 -0500 X-Message-Number: 2 I am certainly not applying however, I came on board with Draperies & Window Coverings nearly 12-years ago not knowing anything about the industry or any of your businesses. Boy has that changed. It changed because I made a conscious effort to ask my clients questions and to learn all I could about their businesses and be genuinely interested in them as people and in what they needed from me to help make them a success. I read a lot of Jeffrey Gitomer and he explains in all of his books how anyone who applies themselves and wants to learn and drive business can sell anything anytime. So in your businesses' best interest don't pass on a potentially great salesperson. Just make sure that they have great listening skills, are engaging, willing to engage with your clients and want to run through walls for you and your company and most importantly above all, their clients! Date: Wed, 5 Aug 2009 10:50:13 -0500 X-Message-Number: 3 I think sales reps should be a hybrid of a sales person and a business coach. I recently worked with a company who was selling Contact Relationship Management systems and their sales reps are actually called "small business coaches". I thought that was an interesting way to describe their positions. I absolutely, 100%, think reps should come from the dealer background. I've worked with some reps that, I have no doubt, would have a much different outlook on their jobs if they only understood our side of the business. If I were a sales rep, I would place a focus on helping dealers to grow their businesses, show them how and why it's important to hold their margins, explain effective pricing strategies to them, and help them to avoid deteriorating the market with low ball pricing to just win bids. I would offer as much business training as product training. (I guess I just basically described what I already do through our training programs, but I don't work for a fabricator.) If I had a person like I described above when I started my company 7 years ago, I guarantee my revenues would have reflected it. If you help your customer's business grow stronger, your business will grow stronger. We've proven that with our B2B side of our business where we offer home staging to Realtors for their listings. We do more than just make their listings look good, we make THEM look good. We offer them training on social media, marketing, co-branding, educational event marketing etc. We genuinely want to see their businesses grow. With a focus of helping THEIR businesses grow, everything else falls into place naturally and we do very little "selling" of our staging services. The value is clear and present. This is probably why we average 30 stagings per month while the average home stager does 2-4. And guess who those Realtors and their clients call when they need window coverings? :-) As Zig Ziglar said, "You can only get what you want, if you help enough other people get what they want." - Zig Ziglar Ashley Whittenberger President, Interiority Complex & The Interiority Complex University President, Texas State Chapter - Real Estate Staging Association www.theinterioritycomplex.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Wow, Free Classified Ads... Date: Wed, 5 Aug 2009 16:11:53 -0700 X-Message-Number: 4 Hi Pros, I use Google Analytics to track hits and length of time on the WIndow- Pro.org site and I noticed a huge spike in visitors and page view yesterday. One of the cool statistics Google Analytics gives you is the length of time on a site. Potential advertisers among you should note that folks on average spend 3.5 minutes on the site! Thats a pretty long time in this ADD world. So for those of you interested in advertising check out this site on Window-Pro.org for the full details and how the ads will look here; http://www.window-pro.org/winpro/Advertising.aspx And there have been a flurry of new listings on the classified site to. Check them out here; http://www.window-pro.org/winpro/Classified.aspx Here are the new listings; Vinyl Plus Mini Blinds 1 inch - For Sale - $0.45 sq. ft. 8/5/2009 VERTICAL TRACKS & PVC SLATS - Wanted - $5 8/5/2009 Vertical Slat punch (pneumatic - high volume) - For Sale - $650 8/5/2009 I noticed that install_specialist@webtv.net is looking for a vertical blind hole punch and slat trimmer, I think there are 2 or 3 listed for sale already. Lately, when I had a spare moment, I created a new background on my Twitter account. I though it would be cool to take one of my project/ idea boards in my office and use that as a background. Check it out and see if you can spot anything interesting I'm working on. www.twitter.com/rorymcneil Best Regards, Rory McNeil www.window-pro.org --- END OF DIGEST ---
