You can set the temp that you want to close the blinds when it reaches that and open them when the temp lowers back down to that. It is called Platinum Solar Energy Sensor. It has both summer and winter modes. Lots of commentary on it. I'd bet the shy among us would also have similar opinions if pulled out of them more easily (double pun 10 more pts). I would seriously like to know if there is a way to share this feedback with the standards committees (or whomever the cord-loop gods are) that incorporate lawyers into the engineering recipes that cover the mfgr's from liability. I will be hard-pressed to alter any such mechanism that would make ME the object of any resulting litigation. With some direction, I would be willing to work through the morass to get these hassles dealt with properly including whatever other creative solution would work. We can go to the moon, we should be able to create a product that transfers the liability to an improper use operator; I mean --- c'mon, is the manufacturer of a Colt .45 responsible for some dope (child, kid, teen, young adult, mid-lifer, or old geezer) who accidently aims the gun at himself and then pulls the trigger? I think not. The product does exactly what it is supposed to do. So why can't we design an easy loop cord fastener that works the way the old ones did (do) and which doesn't generate all this Window Pro chatter? That alone says there must be something to it!! Date: Thu, 18 Aug 2011 14:37:31 -0400 X-Message-Number: 4 I am looking for a wide blackout roller shade fabric that can be railroaded. Ideally it will be at least 118" wide. I have tested many fabrics but none that I am 100% comfortable with railroading. We typically have 154" roller shades. I used Mermet Xlite but it has been discontinued. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate fabric name and supplier/manufacturer. I hope that someone might have some inventory of a pattern that I believe is named "Rain", color ivory. The patter has diagonal lines that look like wind-blown rain. (I already checked the PVC samples from Plastibec and Astra Products with any success.) That means the customer can accidentally lower= the shade too far and it will come off the roller. Doesn't sound like a g= ood solution to me.
