Hi John:

to the outside but blocks the view from the outside in. My client would
like a product designed=0Afor that purpose without having to worry about
lighting scenarios providing privacy as you do with most shade products."

John, When my customers ask for this (as they usually think this is 
what sheerweave shades do) I tell them "magic costs extra"! So, if you 
find a product that does this please share it with us!

Hey Sal,

There is a company called ODL that makes retractable screens.  I have one
installed on my front door.  It is a great product.  You don't even know
it's there when it's not in use. There is a distributor in Florida called
Global Shutters & Shades that sells the product. You can reach them at

There is another caveat to this import discussion; Scott forgot to mention
that about 90% of our furniture comes from China and other countries as well.  
About ten years ago much of our furniture started to be made in China.
 
These factories have moved to other countries like Viet Nam as China got too 
expensive.  I would call this bait and switch.  They got our country in 
and then decided they manufactured products too inexpensively so raised the
rates.  That is only the beginning.  I understand now that China is starting 
to lead the way in EPA standards and changing their ways.  You know what
this will mean....higher prices.  We don't know what will hit us as far as
higher prices goes for all Asian imports.  It could be thing go around and
come back again.  We may be manufacturing yet again in a few years.  If I
recall correctly, I did hear that one of the major furniture manufacturers
has returned to our soils.

BTW.....we should all diversify.  Window Coverings Vision Magazine is helpi=
ng us to do this.  If you received their e-blast today you will find they a=
re featuring mirrors.  That is a great add on to all of you retailers!

Don't forget the IFDA/ASID Resource Fair with three CEUs from Hunter Douglas........
Look there's more!!!!!  Now Four CEU's from Hunter Douglas.  The new 
accredited CEU is on home automation!  This is on Sept 25th This Friday
at the San Ramon Marriott!!!  I put my heart and sole into it along with my
wonderful committee, all volunteer labor!!!
